Genetec Gains Global Access Control Market Share, Omdia Reports

A recent analysis from the global research firm Omdia confirms that Genetec Inc. has significantly expanded its worldwide presence in the access control software market. The 2025 Access Control Report highlights the company’s continued rise in market share, securing its position as the second-largest provider globally. This growth comes during a period marked by industry consolidation, yet Genetec has managed to achieve the highest organic market share increase in on-premises access control software. Clients benefit from aligning with a business dedicated to steady innovation and sustainable expansion, allowing them to make confident, long-term security investments.

The report also identifies Genetec as one of the fastest-growing vendors in the Access Control as a Service (ACaaS) sector across the Americas, a region accounting for more than 70% of the global market. This expansion has been largely fueled by the widespread adoption of Security Center SaaS, Genetec’s open and unified cloud-based security platform. Having offered ACaaS solutions since 2017, the company brings considerable experience in helping organizations transition to cloud-based access control according to their own timeline and requirements.

Genetec maintained its number two ranking in the Americas for access control software market share, strengthened its standing in the EMEA region, and held a top ten position in Asia Pacific. Notably, the company once again recorded the highest rate of organic growth in the Asia Pacific market.

Cloud-based platforms in particular have become a major growth area due to their scalability and advanced data processing abilities. Montany pointed out that Genetec’s strong organic performance underscores the market’s positive response to its adaptable deployment models, extensive third-party hardware compatibility, and unified security platform approach.

Genetec access control systems are designed to scale effortlessly from a single location to multinational installations. Organizations can choose to operate entirely on-premises, fully in the cloud, or through a hybrid arrangement that combines both. Thanks to its open architecture, Genetec avoids locking customers into proprietary hardware, enabling them to select the devices and third-party integrations that align with their specific operational needs. Within Genetec Security Center and Security Center SaaS, access control can be seamlessly unified with video surveillance, intrusion detection, communications systems, and other security components through a single interface. This integration provides enhanced situational awareness and more streamlined security management.

In a related publication, Omdia’s 2025 Video Surveillance & Analytics Report revealed that Genetec continues to hold the top position worldwide in video surveillance software. The company also leads globally in the combined category of video surveillance software and Video Surveillance as a Service (VSaaS).
