Telecom Egypt has significantly expanded its regional influence by establishing a new Point of Presence (PoP) at the Aqaba Digital Hub in Jordan, the country’s premier carrier-neutral Tier III data center. This strategic move enhances the company’s role as a vital digital gateway, meeting escalating international demand for high-bandwidth solutions. The initiative provides businesses and hyperscale cloud providers throughout the Middle East with access to a more resilient and high-capacity infrastructure, facilitating smoother interconnection and improved regional data traffic management.

This development is intrinsically linked to the recent activation of the Coral Bridge subsea cable system, a joint project with NaiTel, the telecommunications division of ADH. This advanced 15-kilometer cable creates a direct, high-speed link between Telecom Egypt’s landing station in Taba and the open-access facility in Aqaba. The combination of the new PoP and the Coral Bridge cable establishes a powerful foundation for onward connectivity, boosting regional network resilience and enabling a wide array of services from cloud computing and artificial intelligence platforms to international data transit.

Mohamed Nasr, Managing Director and CEO of Telecom Egypt, described the dual initiative as a transformative advancement for the area’s digital framework. He stated that these projects do more than just connect Egypt and Jordan; they create diverse and robust pathways for seamless connectivity across the region.

Eyad Abu Khorma, Founder and CEO of Aqaba Digital Hub, echoed this sentiment, emphasizing the strategic value of merging Egypt’s vast subsea network capabilities with Aqaba’s neutral infrastructure. He noted that this partnership is opening new digital gateways that will benefit Jordan, the wider Middle East, and international markets.

Through these strategic infrastructure investments and key collaborations, Telecom Egypt is solidifying its position as a central player in addressing the region’s connectivity requirements. These efforts are widely seen as laying essential groundwork for future digital expansion and economic growth.
