Norton has expanded its AI-powered Scam Protection to all Norton 360 and mobile security plans worldwide, offering real-time defense against fraudulent activities across web browsing, email, SMS, video platforms, and phone calls. This global rollout strengthens Norton’s commitment to delivering proactive security tools for users everywhere, ensuring consistent protection regardless of location.
Scams frequently serve as the initial stage in a sequence of cyber threats that can result in severe financial harm and identity theft. According to data from Gen Threat Labs, social engineering threats, including various types of scams, represent the most common danger to both desktop and mobile users. In fact, these threats made up more than 80% of all threats detected globally during the first nine months of this year. Gen has been blocking an average of 110 social engineering attempts every second, illustrating the relentless pace of these attacks.
Leena Elias, Chief Product Officer at Gen, emphasized the company’s mission, stating, “We’re making Norton AI-powered scam defense as universal as the scams themselves. By expanding Norton Scam Protection across every Norton market, we’re not just rolling out technology – we’re raising the bar for what online safety means: that no matter where you live, you deserve the same chance to protect yourself from sophisticated scams.”
The Scam Protection feature is included at no additional cost with Norton Cyber Safety products for desktop and mobile, covering Norton AntiVirus Plus, Norton Mobile Security, and all Norton 360 subscriptions. Key capabilities include:
Deepfake Protection: This function instantly identifies malicious AI-generated audio in English-language videos on YouTube and Facebook. It is compatible with AI PCs, enabling automatic detection without user intervention.
Safe Web: When you shop or browse online, this feature uses advanced AI to protect you from fraudulent websites and phishing attempts.
Safe SMS: Available only on mobile devices, this tool leverages Norton Genie AI to analyze the wording in text messages, helping detect sophisticated scams right where they commonly target users.
Genie AI-powered Assistant: With a single tap, this assistant offers immediate guidance on suspicious offers and now includes Deepfake Protection for English-language YouTube videos. It also provides reliable insights on cybersecurity and Norton product features.
For individuals not currently using Norton products, the free Norton Private Browser includes built-in Safe Web Scam Protection, which helps block phishing websites and creates a safer environment for online shopping.
Norton is also broadening access to its premium offering, Norton Scam Protection Pro, which is now available to all Norton 360 Advanced plan subscribers worldwide. This enhanced version introduces Safe Email, using Norton AI to identify hidden scam patterns in emails before they are opened, and Safe Call, which blocks or flags scam and junk calls to help users stay secure in their daily digital interactions.
This holiday season, Norton Mobile Scam Defense and Norton 360 Plus for Mobile will be available through selected retailers around the world, allowing customers to protect their new phones from scams as soon as they are unboxed.
*Please note: The Deepfake Protection feature within the Norton Genie AI Assistant is currently in an early access phase and supports English-language YouTube videos only. It is compatible with traditional PCs, AI PCs, Mac, Android, and iOS devices.
Automatic Deepfake Protection is limited to YouTube and Facebook for English video content, though manual scanning can be used on other platforms. This feature requires a Windows Copilot+ PC with a compatible Qualcomm or Intel processor and a supported browser.
