A dynamic contingent of 22 Hong Kong technology exhibitors is preparing to showcase their groundbreaking innovations at GITEX Global 2025 in Dubai, marking a significant push to explore burgeoning opportunities within the Middle East market. This collective effort, organized by the Hong Kong Trade Development Council in partnership with the Hong Kong Science and Technology Parks Corporation, will feature two dedicated pavilions from October 13 to 17. The event serves as a powerful platform to highlight Hong Kong’s strengths as an international innovation and technology hub.
The participating companies will present a diverse range of advanced solutions, with a strong emphasis on artificial intelligence and robotics, the Internet of Things, and greentech. To facilitate meaningful connections, the program includes curated pitching sessions and an exclusive networking dinner. These activities are strategically designed to help Hong Kong’s small and medium-sized enterprises and startups build vital local networks and unlock new business prospects in a region experiencing rapid digital transformation.
GITEX Global, celebrating its 45th anniversary, is projected to draw a massive audience of over 200,000 attendees from more than 180 nations. The event gathers industry titans and agile startups across pivotal sectors like AI, cybersecurity, and smart mobility. The return of the Hong Kong pavilions since 2020 underscores the growing interest from Hong Kong’s tech sector in engaging with the Middle East’s expanding digital economy.
Daniel Lam, the HKTDC’s Regional Director for the Middle East and Africa, commented on the strategic importance of this initiative. He noted that Middle Eastern nations are aggressively advancing their AI capabilities, capitalizing on inherent advantages in energy costs and financial resources. The Hong Kong pavilions will act as a crucial bridge, connecting promising local tech enterprises with potential partners across the Middle East and other international markets. This initiative not only assists Hong Kong companies in global expansion but also positions Hong Kong as the preferred gateway for Middle Eastern investors looking to access markets in China and the broader Asian region.
This outward focus aligns with the Hong Kong SAR government’s policy direction, which has identified AI and data science as fundamental drivers of the next wave of scientific and industrial progress. Bolstered by robust research capabilities, capital, data resources, and a deep talent pool, Hong Kong is strategically positioning itself as a global AI hub. The vitality of its startup ecosystem is evident, with recent surveys indicating the number of startups has climbed to a record high of nearly 4,700.
The exhibitors at the Hong Kong Tech Pavilions represent the cutting edge of applied technology. For instance, the HKSAR Environmental Protection Department is deploying AI for sophisticated environmental assessment and planning. Their innovations include an AI-powered robotic dog for investigating air pollution, the development of a comprehensive environmental data repository, and AI systems designed for monitoring noise and wastewater.
Another standout participant, TradeMonday, offers a specialized generative AI software platform that automates retail analytics. Their technology transforms complex data into actionable, profit-boosting decisions using pre-trained AI agents, with backing from venture capital firms in Hong Kong, Türkiye, and the United States.
Chain Technology Development Co. Limited will present its award-winning Digital Twin solution. This technology integrates AI, IoT data, and spatial intelligence to meet the complex demands of the architecture, engineering, construction, and operations industries, contributing to the creation of smarter, safer, and more sustainable urban environments. The pavilions will also feature companies like Man Yue Electronics Company Limited, a manufacturer focused on supplying high-quality electronic components with a strong emphasis on sustainability and carbon neutrality.
In a parallel event, HKSTP will lead a second pavilion at Expand North Star from October 12 to 15 at Dubai Harbour. This showcase will feature ten of its park companies, which will also participate in the Supernova Challenge pitching competition. The Hong Kong Polytechnic University will join this event to present its own technological achievements and business-ready solutions.
To further solidify these international connections, the HKTDC will co-host a networking dinner on October 14 with the Hong Kong Economic and Trade Office in Dubai. The event is expected to bring together approximately 80 key representatives from local and international business sectors. Additionally, the HKTDC has organized twelve on-site pitching sessions, providing a direct platform for participating companies to present their innovative solutions to a targeted audience of investors, corporate leaders, and government agencies.
