The eighth annual DevOpsDays Cairo 2025 has officially opened its doors, bringing together a distinguished roster of 55 international technology experts to explore the future of software development and operations. Held at the Creativa Innovation Hub in Giza, this year’s event operates under the banner “Paving the Way for the AI Age with DevOps,” highlighting the powerful synergy between DevOps methodologies and artificial intelligence. The conference enjoys the patronage of Egypt’s Minister of Communications and Information Technology, Dr. Amr Talaat, and is orchestrated by the Information Technology Industry Development Agency (ITIDA) alongside its Software Engineering Competence Center (SECC).
During the opening ceremony, ITIDA CEO Ahmed El-Zaher’s keynote address was delivered by Dr. Haitham Hamza, Acting Chairman of SECC. El-Zaher characterized the conference as a strategic initiative that mirrors Egypt’s broader ambition to fortify its information technology sector, cultivate local talent, and actively participate in shaping worldwide technological standards. He traced the impressive trajectory of DevOpsDays Cairo since its 2018 debut as the pioneering event of its kind in the Arab world. What began as a modest single-track gathering has flourished into a comprehensive, multi-track conference that draws leading voices from across the globe. Attendance figures tell a compelling story of growth, surging from 220 participants and 9 speakers in 2023 to over 600 attendees and 34 speakers by 2024. The current edition’s assembly of 55 speakers solidifies its reputation as a premier technology forum in the region.
The CEO also spotlighted the instrumental role played by SECC since its founding in 2001. Acting as the technical and knowledge backbone for Egypt’s software industry, SECC delivers advanced training and consultancy, introducing specialized learning paths in software testing, generative AI testing, and DevOps. These programs are designed to keep Egyptian engineers at the forefront of global industry demands. El-Zaher elaborated on the modern interpretation of DevOps, describing it as a cultural shift centered on velocity, trust, and scalability that empowers businesses to speed up digital service delivery, maintain high quality, and succeed in international markets. A significant milestone for SECC was its recent accreditation from the PeopleCert–DevOps Institute, which allows its experts to administer globally recognized certifications directly from Egypt.
A central theme of the address was Egypt’s formidable competitive advantage: its deep and dynamic talent reservoir. The nation produces more than 760,000 graduates every year, with a substantial 30% specializing in science, technology, engineering, and mathematics (STEM) disciplines. This youthful, skilled workforce has been a primary driver behind remarkable economic gains. Offshoring exports climbed by 80% to reach $4.3 billion in 2024, while jobs linked to direct exports grew by 70%, surpassing 160,000 positions. Furthermore, the number of global outsourcing companies with a presence in Egypt has nearly tripled in just three years, jumping from 64 to more than 180.
Conference sessions are structured around four core tracks that merge DevOps with artificial intelligence, tackling essential subjects like AI-powered testing, software security, performance enhancement, and shortening development lifecycles with generative AI. Attendees can also participate in practical workshops that demonstrate sophisticated tools and methodologies for improving corporate competitiveness. The speaker lineup includes globally recognized figures such as Andrew Clay Shafer, co-founder of DevOpsDays and founder of Ergonautic from the USA; Rania Mohamed, a Customer Solutions Architect at Google Cloud and DORA based in the Netherlands; and Hasan Yasar, Technical Director and Teaching Professor at Carnegie Mellon University’s Software Engineering Institute in the USA. They are joined by senior leaders from prominent local and international IT enterprises.
Organizational support for this year’s conference comes from a coalition of industry and academic leaders, including ATOS, Cegedim, DXC Technology, Orange Innovation Egypt, Stakpak, Vodafone Intelligent Solutions (VOIS), Cairo University, Egypt University of Informatics, and the American University in Cairo. Sponsorship is provided by ARCHER, Deloitte, eFinance, Noventiq, and Konecta, with the DevOps Institute acting as a strategic partner. As part of a worldwide series that started in Belgium in 2009, DevOpsDays events now take place in more than 60 global cities. Since 2018, the Cairo edition has served as the flagship host in the Arab region, reinforcing Egypt’s dual status as a top outsourcing destination and a vital crossroads for international technology discourse.
