Anduril Doubles Its Space Unit Amid Autonomous Weapons Push

▼ Summary

– Anduril Industries is acquiring ExoAnalytic Solutions, a space intelligence firm with a global network of sensors monitoring satellites.
– ExoAnalytic is a leader in modeling, simulation, and software for classified national security space programs, including missile warning and defense.
– The acquisition will more than double Anduril’s space-focused staff and includes ExoAnalytic’s global telescope network and specialized software.
– Anduril, known for autonomous weapons and defense programs, is expanding its reach into the critical military domain of space.
– This purchase aims to accelerate Anduril’s support for national security space customers in areas like space domain awareness and battle management.

Anduril Industries has significantly expanded its presence in the defense and intelligence sector by acquiring ExoAnalytic Solutions, a prominent space intelligence company. This strategic move more than doubles the size of Anduril’s team focused on space-related projects, positioning the firm to better serve national security clients in an increasingly contested orbital environment. The acquisition brings under Anduril’s control the world’s largest commercial telescope network, comprising over 400 sensor systems globally, which provides persistent, high-fidelity tracking of objects in deep space.

ExoAnalytic has built a two-decade reputation for delivering critical advantages on some of the nation’s most sensitive missions. The company is a recognized leader in modeling and simulation for classified space programs and provides essential software and expertise for missile warning and defense systems. Anduril’s purchase secures ownership of these advanced tracking algorithms, simulation tools, and missile defense software, assets that will directly enhance its offerings in space domain awareness, battle management, and fire control.

The financial terms of the deal were not disclosed. However, Gokul Subramanian, Anduril’s Vice President of Engineering who oversees its space portfolio, confirmed the transaction will more than double the company’s staff dedicated to space initiatives. This expansion underscores Anduril’s aggressive push into domains vital to modern warfare, complementing its existing work on autonomous weapons systems.

Anduril, founded in 2017 by Oculus creator Palmer Luckey with a team of former Palantir employees, is perhaps best known for developing autonomous military technology. Its portfolio includes cruise missiles, jet-powered interceptors, and underwater drones. The company is also a key contractor on the U.S. Air Force’s Collaborative Combat Aircraft program, which aims to develop robotic wingmen that can operate alongside manned fighter jets, a concept known as manned-unmanned teaming.

Integrating ExoAnalytic’s capabilities accelerates Anduril’s work for national security space customers and directly supports areas where the U.S. Space Force is actively seeking new contractors. By combining expertise in autonomous systems with unparalleled space surveillance data, Anduril is forging a powerful synergy between its terrestrial and orbital defense technologies.
