The Wispr Flow AI dictation app is now available for Android devices, expanding its reach after successful launches on Mac, Windows, and iOS. This move brings sophisticated voice-to-text capabilities to a major mobile platform, offering a distinct interface tailored for Android users. Instead of a dedicated keyboard, the app utilizes a convenient floating bubble for access. A simple tap starts the dictation, with a close button to end the session. Beyond basic transcription, the software intelligently removes filler words and applies contextual formatting based on the app in use and the spoken content.

Tanay Kothari, the startup’s co-founder and CEO, emphasized the significance of the Android launch. “Android finally gave us the freedom to build the voice experience we always wanted. Only when the platform gets out of the way can we truly expect voice to replace typing on mobile,” he stated. The application supports real-time translation across more than 100 languages and functions seamlessly within other apps on the device. Accompanying this release is a major backend upgrade; the company completed an infrastructure rewrite that reportedly makes the dictation process 30% faster than previous versions.

While numerous AI dictation tools exist for desktop and iOS, the landscape is less crowded on Android. With this launch, Wispr Flow joins a small group, such as the recently launched Typeless app, in offering this advanced functionality on the platform. The company also introduced a specialized new model for Hinglish, a blended code of Hindi and English prevalent in India. This development directly addresses the natural speaking patterns of millions of users. Kothari, sharing a personal motivation, said, “If you’re someone like me, English and Hindi weave together when I’m chatting with family and colleagues back home. This is one of those times when I just had to build something for me: the first voice model to actually support transcription in Hinglish instead of traditional Hindi script.”

Early adoption metrics are promising. Even during a limited rollout to selected users, the platform has already processed over 1.3 million words in English in just a few days. Wispr Flow has emerged as a standout player in the AI dictation space, capturing significant venture capital interest. The startup secured $30 million in a June funding round led by Menlo Ventures. Merely months later, in November, it raised an additional $25 million in a round spearheaded by Notable Capital. To date, the company has amassed $81 million in total funding, with its most recent valuation reaching approximately $700 million according to insider reports.
