Boox is enhancing its Go Series with the addition of two new E Ink devices, which are the company’s first to include stylus support and note-taking functionality in their smaller seven-inch e-reader models. This feature, already available on Kobo’s seven-inch Libra Colour, sets the new Boox Go 7 and Go Color 7 Gen II apart as they run on Android 13. This operating system allows users to access both Amazon and Kobo’s bookstores and install their preferred note-taking apps from the Google Play store.
The Boox Go 7, a monochromatic device, is currently available for preorder on the company’s online store for $249.99, with shipping starting on May 7th. The Go Color 7 Gen II is expected to be available for preorder soon at a price of $279.99.
The Boox Go 7 features a black-and-white E Ink Carta 1300 screen with a 300ppi resolution and adjustable lighting. It has an asymmetrical design with an extended grip and page turn buttons. The device offers 64GB of storage, expandable via a microSD card, providing ample space for ebooks and audiobooks. These can be enjoyed through the built-in speaker or through Bluetooth using wireless headphones.
The Go 7 is also water-resistant, capable of withstanding splashes, spills, and light rain, although it is not fully waterproof and should not be submerged.
Similar to the Go 7, the Go Color 7 Gen II shares nearly identical specifications but comes with an E Ink Kaleido 3 screen. This screen can display up to 4,096 colors at 150ppi and black-and-white content at 300ppi.
Both e-readers are compatible with Boox’s pressure-sensitive InkSense stylus, which allows for note-taking and text annotation, depending on the reading app used. The stylus is available as an optional accessory for an additional $45.99.
