The latest adjustments to the Warhammer 40,000 game system aim to refine competitive balance and encourage diverse army builds across several key factions. These targeted changes focus on points adjustments and specific rule clarifications to ensure a dynamic and fair playing field for all commanders.
For the Adepta Sororitas, recent enhancements to certain units have elevated their battlefield performance. To accurately represent this increased effectiveness, several of these previously buffed units will now cost more points to include in an army list. This adjustment ensures their power level is properly reflected in the game’s overall economy.
The Adeptus Custodes see a shift intended to broaden tactical choices. Wardens have solidified their position as a supremely popular infantry choice. To incentivize exploration of the faction’s other formidable units, the points cost for several alternative unit types has been reduced. This gives players a compelling reason to field a wider variety of the Emperor’s finest.
Following significant power adjustments in a previous update, the Adeptus Mechanicus now receives corresponding points changes. Those earlier modifications were deliberately made without immediate points revisions to observe their impact. Now that these units have demonstrably grown in strength, points increases are being applied to a number of them. This brings their cost in line with their newfound potency on the tabletop.
Substantive updates have arrived for the Aeldari. Points increases target some of the most frequently selected and powerful units. Several key rules have also been clarified or adjusted: Star Engines now grant the Assault ability, the Skyborn Sanctuary stratagem requires the using unit to have been eligible to fight that phase, and the Fire and Fade stratagem can no longer be used to embark a unit into a transport. Furthermore, for consistency across the army, all Aspect Warrior tokens now function like Incubi Shrine tokens, meaning they do not provide their benefit to an attached Character model.
