Momentic Secures $15M to Automate Software Testing

Originally published on: November 25, 2025

While the spotlight often shines on flashy product demos, the real engine of software development lies in the meticulous, unglamorous work of debugging, quality assurance, and testing. This foundational process ensures applications perform reliably, and a growing number of developers are now turning to artificial intelligence to automate these essential tasks. Momentic, an AI testing startup, has secured $15 million in a Series A funding round to advance its mission of simplifying this critical aspect of the software lifecycle.

The investment was spearheaded by Standard Capital, with Dropbox Ventures also contributing. They were joined by a group of existing backers, including Y Combinator, FCVC, Transpose Platform, and Karman Ventures. This latest financial boost follows a $3.7 million seed round the company announced earlier this year.

Momentic develops tools specifically for software testing and verification, a field currently served by established open-source frameworks such as Playwright and Selenium. While those solutions offer powerful, detailed controls, Momentic is betting that its AI-powered platform can make the entire procedure far more straightforward and efficient.

Co-founder Wei-Wei Wu explained the core value proposition: “We help our customers make sure their product works. They can describe their critical user flows in plain English and our AI will automate it.” This approach allows developers to create complex tests using simple language commands, bypassing the need for intricate scripting.

Both Wu and his co-founder, Jeff An, bring extensive experience in developer tools from their tenures at companies like Qualtrics and WeWork. Wu, in particular, points to his contributions to the open-source Node.js project as a key part of his background. Throughout his career, he observed a universal challenge. “Testing has been the biggest pain point for every team I’ve ever worked with,” Wu noted, highlighting the persistent difficulty of code verification.

The company’s AI-driven methodology is already gaining significant traction. Momentic’s customer base has grown to include 2,600 users, with notable clients such as Notion, Xero, Bilt, Webflow, and Retool. While Wu did not disclose specific revenue or profitability numbers, he indicated that the product’s growth trajectory was strong enough to attract this latest round of investor confidence.

A major advantage of automation is the ability to execute tests on a massive scale. Wu estimates that in the last month alone, the company’s platform automated more than 200 million individual test steps, a volume that would be extraordinarily difficult to achieve through manual efforts.

Looking ahead, Momentic faces potential competition from the very foundation models that power AI. Companies like OpenAI and Anthropic are exploring agentic testing within their own ecosystems, leveraging their models’ expanding capabilities. As these general-purpose models become more advanced, they could encroach on the market for specialized enterprise SaaS solutions like Momentic.

For the immediate future, Wu is concentrating on enhancing the product with the new capital. The team recently introduced support for mobile testing environments and plans to develop more sophisticated test-case management features as they expand their engineering roster. Wu believes the surge in automated code generation will inevitably lead to a proliferation of new applications, all of which will require rigorous quality checks. “All of these apps need testing,” he stated. “They care about quality, and we’re going to provide it for them.”
