Apex Legends Season 27, named Amped, brings a massive movement-centric overhaul that fundamentally changes how players navigate the battlefield. This update completely transforms the Olympus map, introduces significant adjustments to several Legends, and adds new mechanics designed to enhance combat fluidity. Players can look forward to the Double Tap Hop-Up for the Alternator, a reimagined Valkyrie, and the debut of the first-ever Mythic R-99 weapon during the Supersonic Wildcard event.

The redesigned Olympus map features four brand-new Points of Interest, each crafted to refine combat flow and strategic movement. Somers University now stands where the Orbital Cannon once was, envisioned by Horizon as a research facility complete with lifts and dominant high-ground positions. Replacing the old Energy Depot, Gravity Engine utilizes Branthium to power the city, integrating new lifts and zip rails for rapid traversal. The area formerly known as Docks has been rebuilt into Stabilizer, offering pathways across floating rocks and outer ballast zones. Dockyard expands upon Hydroponics, providing quicker vertical ascents and tightly packed cover for close-quarters engagements.

Senior Level Designer Michael Shannon explained that the revitalized Olympus is intended to reward player skill and address previously troublesome open spaces. The design philosophy creates diverse experiences, from intense hot drop locations to more secure rotation paths. From a narrative perspective, this version of Olympus is an alternate reality iteration salvaged from the snowy planet Pagos, with Horizon spearheading the reconstruction after the map’s catastrophic crash.

Valkyrie receives substantial updates that sharpen her aerial prowess. Her VTOL Jets now recharge significantly faster and achieve liftoff more quickly. The Skyward Dive Ultimate activates with reduced delay, allowing for rapid repositioning. Her Missile Swarm ability no longer inflicts damage on herself, instead scanning targeted enemies and temporarily neutralizing their movement-based passive skills. These modifications firmly reestablish Valkyrie as a formidable jet fighter, restoring her mobility and threat level in air-based engagements.

Rampart’s kit evolves to promote a more dynamic playstyle. Her Amped Cover now scales with a player’s Evo Shield level, gaining additional durability and eventually acquiring a protective roof. When firing from behind her shields, she benefits from unlimited ammunition and accelerated reload speeds. Furthermore, her walls gradually regenerate health when not under fire. This shifts Rampart’s role from a purely stationary defender to a master of mobile area denial.

Horizon’s adjustments reinforce her command over vertical space. The cooldown on her Gravity Lift is shortened, and its ascent speed is increased. Her Black Hole Ultimate receives a health boost, making it more resilient to enemy fire. New mechanics include a fast-fall option and gliding capabilities, with additional lift charges granted upon achieving knockdowns. These changes ensure Horizon remains the definitive choice for responsive, vertical mobility.

A new system called Mantle Boost provides a forward burst of speed when climbing over ledges, enabling players to close distances more efficiently. Tridents have been upgraded with their own dedicated health pools, clear damage indicators, and refined collision physics. Lead BR Designer Eric Canavese noted that these enhancements make high-velocity movement more intuitive and visually rewarding for all players.

The new Double Tap Hop-Up, exclusive to the Alternator SMG, allows both barrels to fire at once, unleashing a devastating burst ideal for close-range confrontations. Weapons Designer Casey O’Brien characterized the attachment as exceptionally lethal in tight spaces and, crucially, an immense amount of fun to use.

Running from November 18 to December 16, the Supersonic Wildcard event brings the updated Olympus map online with additional ziplines and new upgrades. Participants can unlock the groundbreaking Mythic R-99, which gains the ability to fire Valkyrie’s Missile Swarm after building heat through combat. A suite of upgrades is available, including Burning Rubber for leaving fire trails, Extra Zippy for shield and speed enhancements, Eyes in the Sky, Quick and the Dead, Get Up and Go, and Along for the Slide. By earning Boost during the event, players can obtain Supersonic Event Packs containing Legendary skins for Horizon, Crypto, Mirage, Catalyst, and others, alongside the Death Duet Universal Melee set.

The Amped Battle Pass for Split 1 offers a wealth of content. The Premium track includes Legendary skins for Valkyrie and Wattson, a Legendary Spitfire weapon skin, 10 Exotic Shards, and a Reactive Sentinel skin at Tier 60. The Ultimate tier provides all Premium rewards immediately, plus 1200 Crafting Metals and 8 Apex Packs. For the Ultimate+ edition, players receive an additional 10 Battle Pass levels, 10 more Exotic Shards, instant access to all Legends for the split’s duration, and exclusive skin variants for Valkyrie and Wattson.

Apex Legends: Amped is scheduled to launch on November 4 at 10 AM Pacific Time, 1 PM Eastern Time, and 5 PM Greenwich Mean Time across all supported platforms.
