Rebel Wolves has unveiled fresh gameplay footage for their highly anticipated dark fantasy RPG, The Blood of Dawnwalker, showcasing the protagonist’s dual nature and time-sensitive vampire mechanics. The studio, founded by former CD Projekt Red veterans including The Witcher 3 director Konrad Tomaszkiewicz, presents a gripping medieval world overrun by bloodsuckers, where players must navigate both human and supernatural abilities to survive.

In the newly released demo, players control Coen, a young man racing against a 30-day-and-night cycle to rescue his family from vampiric overlords. Design director Daniel Sadowski explains that while Coen could theoretically storm the enemy stronghold immediately, doing so unprepared would likely end in disaster. Instead, the game encourages strategic planning, gathering allies, honing skills, and exploiting the unique advantages of each time of day.

Daylight gameplay strips Coen of his vampiric powers but grants him access to magic and the ability to move freely among humans. The demo highlights how he can infiltrate a cathedral unchallenged, gathering intel or forging alliances. However, nightfall transforms him into a predator, unlocking enhanced agility, stealth, and brutal combat skills. This duality becomes crucial when facing foes like Xanthe, an elder vampire conducting sinister rituals, players must decide whether to confront her directly or seek alternative solutions.

Sadowski emphasizes that side quests aren’t mere distractions but integral to shaping the narrative. Every choice influences Coen’s chances of success within the tight timeframe, whether through diplomacy, brute force, or cunning subterfuge. The demo’s failed encounter with Xanthe hints at the game’s high-stakes consequences, where even powerful abilities may not guarantee victory.

Scheduled for release in 2026, The Blood of Dawnwalker will launch on Xbox Series X|S, PlayStation 5, and PC, promising a richly layered RPG experience blending time management, moral ambiguity, and visceral vampire combat.
