The horror gaming world just got even more terrifying with the official arrival of Springtrap in Dead by Daylight. This highly anticipated crossover with Five Nights at Freddy’s introduces the infamous animatronic as a playable Killer, marking a major update in the game’s latest chapter. Following a successful public test phase, players can now experience the chilling addition firsthand.

To commemorate the launch, Behaviour Interactive unveiled a cinematic trailer showcasing Springtrap’s menacing presence. The footage captures a Survivor hiding in an office within the new Freddy Fazbear’s Pizza map, only for Springtrap to break through and deliver a brutal demise. The collaboration stays true to its roots, incorporating iconic elements from the original Five Nights at Freddy’s game.

What sets this crossover apart is the fresh gameplay mechanics. Unlike standard Trials, Survivors and Killers now interact with security doors and cameras, adding strategic depth. Springtrap himself isn’t just another Killer, he’s designed to be more formidable, equipped with unique abilities that ramp up the intensity.

Jay Guzzo, the designer behind Springtrap, discussed the creative hurdles of merging two vastly different horror experiences. “Five Nights at Freddy’s thrives on stationary tension, while Dead by Daylight demands constant movement,” Guzzo explained. “Our goal was to translate that signature FNAF dread into an action-packed format without losing its essence.”

Beyond gameplay, the update offers exclusive collectibles, including alternate costumes for Springtrap. One standout design pays homage to the Yellow Rabbit Outfit from the 2023 Five Nights at Freddy’s movie, complete with Matthew Lillard’s likeness and voice.

With this addition, Dead by Daylight’s roster now boasts 39 Killers and 46 Survivors, each bringing their own brand of terror. Springtrap’s arrival ensures fans of both franchises will face nightmares unlike anything they’ve encountered before.
