Sundar Pichai

Early Career and Google Sundar Pichai began his career in engineering and product management at Applied Materials and later worked in management consulting at McKinsey & Company. In 2004, he joined Google, initially working on the Google Toolbar, which laid the groundwork for his leadership in developing Google Chrome, launched in 2008. Chrome’s success established Pichai as a key figure in Google’s product development. Rise to Leadership Pichai’s role expanded to overseeing various Google products, including Google Drive, Gmail, and Google Maps, and he played a crucial role in the development of the Android operating system. His strategic vision and effective leadership led to his appointment as CEO of Google in 2015, succeeding Larry Page. CEO of Alphabet Inc. In December 2019, Pichai became the CEO of Alphabet Inc., Google’s parent company, after Larry Page and Sergey Brin stepped down from their executive roles. In this role, he oversees Alphabet’s diverse range of projects, including advancements in artificial intelligence, cloud computing, and various “Other Bets” initiatives like Waymo and Verily.
